Year 1 News

Last week, we enjoyed lots of fun and meaningful learning opportunities across the curriculum. We worked together, shared our ideas, and tried our best!
As religious thinkers, we learned about Reconciliation Week and why it is important. We wrote our own Acknowledgements of Country and talked about how we can show respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners of the land.
As mathematical thinkers, we have been learning about Mass. We engaged in hands-on tasks to compare objects and identify which ones were heavier or lighter. We also practised using the correct language to describe mass, and ordered objects from lightest to heaviest.
As writers, we brainstormed what good writers do and used this to reflect on our writing and how we can improve it. We used a checklist to help us with this, which is helping us to include important details, organise our ideas, and become more confident writers.
