Loving God,

During National Reconciliation Week,

We pray for healing, understanding, and unity among all Australians.

Help us to walk together with respect, compassion, and truth.

May we listen deeply to the stories and wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, and work together to build a future of justice, peace, and reconciliation.

Guide us to be people of kindness, courage, and hope in our community each day.

Amen.

National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Eucharist family faith night

Thank you to all our Year 4 families for attending the Eucharist Faith Night. Your presence, support, and participation helped create a meaningful and prayerful evening for everyone involved. We hope the night offered an opportunity for reflection, connection, and a deeper understanding of this special sacrament.

Thank you again for your continued support and commitment throughout your child’s sacramental journey.

Celebrating mass

The following classes, 3DG and 1/2CW will be attending Mass this  Thursday 28th of May at 9.15am. We warmly invite parents and carers to join us for this meaningful occasion and share in the celebration of our school faith community. Your presence and support help strengthen the connection between home, school, and parish life, making the experience even more special for the children.KidsView Social Justice IncursionOn Monday the Year 5/6 students participated in a KidsView Social Justice incursion.

KidsView is an organisation that supports children in the Philippines. The incursion aimed to raise students’ awareness of poverty, access to education, and children’s rights, while encouraging them to reflect on how they can help create positive social change.

Throughout the session, students listened to real-life stories of children living in poverty and finding hope despite challenging circumstances. These stories helped students develop a deeper understanding of real-world issues and encouraged thoughtful discussion about fairness, inequality, wealth, and opportunity.

Eucharist retreat day

All Year 4 students are invited to participate in a special Retreat Day at St Fidelis on Friday 12th June.  This retreat offers the children a valuable opportunity to step away from their regular classroom routine and spend time reflecting more deeply on their faith journey.

Throughout the day, students will take part in a range of meaningful activities including prayer, reflection, discussion, and quiet time, all focused on developing a deeper understanding of the sacrament they are preparing to receive.

The retreat aims to support students in recognising the importance of the sacrament in their lives and encourages them to reflect on their relationship with God and with others. It will also provide opportunities for students to ask questions, share their thoughts, and grow in their understanding within a supportive and faith-filled environment.

Lunch will be provided for all children, and Year 4 students are welcome to wear casual clothes on the day.

What’s happening in Religious Education at St Fidelis

Throughout the term, the Foundation students have been exploring a variety of Scripture readings and making connections to their own lives. To celebrate the feast of St Fidelis, the students unpacked the meaning of the St Fidelis prayer and discussed why it is important to our school community. Together, they reflected on how the words of the prayer encourage us to show kindness, respect, faith, and care for others each day.

The students continued developing their understanding of the Sacrament of Eucharist by exploring the important symbols connected to this special sacrament and discussing why they are significant. Through a variety of thinking routines, they unpacked the Scripture story of the Road to Emmaus and made connections between this story and the Eucharist, recognising how Jesus is present with us through the sharing of bread and community.

Throughout the term, the Foundation children will continue exploring a variety of Scripture stories, including the story of the Good Samaritan. Through discussions, shared reflections, and thinking routines, the children will develop an understanding of kindness, compassion, inclusion, and caring for others. They will also make meaningful connections between these teachings and the importance of National Reconciliation Week, learning about respect, unity, and walking together with Indigenous people.

As our school community prepares to celebrate the Sacrament of Eucharist, the Foundation children will also explore the meaning and significance of this special sacrament. They will unpack the Scripture story of the Feeding of the 5000 and reflect on how Jesus showed love, generosity, and care for all people. Through prayer, class discussions, and hands-on learning experiences, the children will begin to understand how the Eucharist brings people together as one community in faith.

Upcoming School Mass Times

Throughout the term, students will have regular opportunities to attend Mass as part of their faith journey and spiritual development. These celebrations provide meaningful moments for prayer, reflection, and connection with our school community. The following schedule outlines the allocated times for each class to participate in Mass and other prayer experiences. We warmly invite parents and carers to join us whenever possible, as your presence helps to enrich these special occasions and strengthens the partnership between home, school, and parish.
