Tuesday 9th June  PA meeting at 6:30pm in School Staff Room

Mother’s Day Breakfast

Our annual Mother’s Day Breakfast at the Gillard Centre brought together mothers, daughters and caregivers for a delightful celebration. Hosted by the PA a week in advance, this event allows participants to partake in various festivities over the following weeks. Guests enjoyed a beautiful selection of baked goods from Three Birds Bakery, featuring bagels, cupcakes, croissants, donuts and yoghurt pots, all complemented by juice and hot beverages.

A big thank you goes to our Principal, Tamy Stubley, and Assistant Principal, Kate Nicholls, for their warm welcome and engaging conversations with our guests. We also appreciate the generous donation of gift vouchers from an MGC family for Forever You Dermal Clinic, which provided two lucky attendees with a pamper session.

Special thanks to PA member Toni for coordinating this lovely event each year, along with Alison and Meredith for their assistance with setup and Eda for her support during the event. We love sharing these moments with our students and their families.

Staff Morning Tea

On Monday 25 May the MGC Parents Association hosted our annual Staff Morning Tea. This is an opportunity for the school community to contribute a savoury or sweet treat to thank our teaching and support staff for all their hard work during the first half of the school year. Our staff enjoyed a selection of goodies, such as quiches, cheeses, sandwiches, wraps, dips, lemon slice, brownies, ginger and chocolate chip cookies, banana bread and fresh fruit.

Our teaching staff were very grateful for the event, with many coming back for seconds! A big thank you to those who were able to contribute food on the day or provide setup support. You all helped make this event a great success. Thank you to Alison and Amy for coordinating this event and Eda and Jenny for assisting on the day.

If you missed out on contributing, do not worry. The Parents Association will hold a Staff Lunch later in the year, so please keep a look out for notifications on Compass.

How to contribute to the Parents’ Association and Support our Grants Scheme

The generous financial contributions from families through fundraising and school support empower the Parents’ Association to provide teaching staff and student groups with opportunities for additional funding. These grants are essential for programs and equipment that would otherwise be difficult to implement or acquire. Recent funding has supported initiatives such as waste reduction equipment for the environmental team, orienteering equipment, Model UN General Assembly for the Humanities department, a bass flute for the music program and digital SLR cameras for the Media department. A list of all the grants provided for 2025 is listed below.

The MGC PA Grants Committee is excited to invite funding requests from both MGC staff and students this term. Applications can be submitted for various initiatives, including programs, guest speakers, equipment purchases, student conference attendance or events. We encourage staff and students to seek funding for projects that will enhance the experience of students at MGC. If you have an idea you would like to discuss before submitting a full application, feel free to contact a PA member or reach out to the Grants Committee at mgcparents@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing your innovative proposals that can make a positive impact on our community.

To continue supporting the vital work of the Parents’ Association and the Annual Grants Scheme, please indicate your contribution through the Lead and Achieve tick box on your financial contributions. The MGC Parents’ Association plays a crucial role in enhancing our students’ educational experiences by fostering community connections and providing necessary assistance. We sincerely appreciate your ongoing support and contributions.
