Staff vs Year 12 Student Cup: Volleyball Showdown
The first round of the annual Staff vs Year 12 Student Cup was held during the final week of Term 1, with Volleyball opening this year’s competition in exciting fashion.
The Year 12 students brought outstanding enthusiasm and energy to the school gym, with multiple student teams sharing the court as they challenged the teachers in a highly entertaining contest. Students from across all year levels packed the bleachers to cheer on both sides, mostly the Year 12s, creating a fantastic atmosphere and showcasing great school spirit throughout the afternoon.
The matches were filled with impressive rallies, teamwork and sportsmanship from both staff and students. Despite the students’ determined efforts, the experienced and skillful teachers were able to come away with the victory, winning the competition two sets to one.
With the next round of the Staff vs Student Cup taking place later this term, the Year 12 students will be eager for another opportunity to level the ledger and continue the rivalry.

Interschool Sport Results
Over the past month, Senior and Intermediate students in Years 9-12 have competed in the Inner North Interschool Sport competition against schools across our district. Students proudly represented the school in Netball, Soccer, Badminton and AFL, showcasing excellent teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
Senior Teams
There were several outstanding performances across all Senior teams. Unfortunately, the Senior Netball team narrowly lost the grand final to SEDA by a very small margin. It was an excellent effort by the team, who came incredibly close to claiming the championship. Congratulations to Isla Rose, Coco Murrihy and Alexis McCarthy for their strong performances throughout the day.
The Senior Soccer team also faced tough opposition and competed strongly throughout the day, but were unable to progress to the next round. Special mention goes to Maddison Bushnie, Tessa Williamson and Edwina Keating, who were among the standout performers on the day.
Our Senior Badminton team also competed exceptionally well and finished runners-up to Uni High after a very close contest.
The most successful of our Senior teams was AFL, with the team winning both of their matches against Uni High and Richmond High to progress through to the next round of competition. Outstanding performances were seen from Zara Lanigan, Ruby Page, Coco Murrihy and Felicity Comerford.
The Senior Lawn Bowls team competed strongly against other schools in the region, winning one of their two pool matches and progressing to compete for fourth place overall. Congratulations to all team members, Stella Laporte, Carrie Somes and Zelda Templeman Hughes, for their great efforts throughout the day, and a special mention to Olivia Gomme for her outstanding leadership as the team’s skipper.
Intermediate Teams
Our Intermediate teams were also highly successful, with all Netball, Soccer and Badminton teams qualifying for the next stage of competition. Congratulations to all students who competed and represented the school so positively throughout the day. We look forward to seeing these teams continue their success in the next round.
A special mention goes to the standout performers in Netball: Edyn Ross, Layla Ross and Rahni Kelly, who all had excellent games on the day.
A huge thank you must also go to all staff who generously gave up their time to support students through try-outs, training sessions and game days. These opportunities would not be possible without their commitment and support. It has been fantastic to see such positive relationships being built between students and staff, contributing to the strong sporting culture within our school.
