Art Making and Exhibiting – Unit 3: Developing Artworks
Our VCE Art Making and Exhibiting students are currently working towards completing Unit 3, Outcome 2: Make, Critique and Reflect, in which they develop two artworks. Through this outcome, students explore ideas by experimenting with materials, techniques and visual approaches to build and refine their practice.
The artworks featured in this newsletter are a selection of the wonderful work our students have produced so far. These are developing works, resolved to a point, but not yet final. Next term in Unit 4, students will reflect on the strengths of these works to inform the creation of one final, resolved artwork for Outcome 1.
The Visual Arts team are proud of each student’s progress and look forward to seeing how their work continues to develop in Term 3. Completed artworks will be showcased at the End-of-Year VCE Art, Design and Media Exhibition, opening on Tuesday 27 October. We hope to see you there!
Year 10 Visual Arts: Collaborative Charcoal Reproductions
This term, Year 10 Visual Arts students have been exploring charcoal as a drawing medium. After building their skills and confidence with a range of charcoal techniques, students moved on to a collaborative project.
Each student was given a section of a well-known artwork to reproduce in charcoal. Once all the individual pieces were complete, the class brought them together to recreate the original composition.
The finished Collaborative Charcoal Reproductions are now on display around the school. We encourage you to take a look. They are a wonderful reflection of the technical skill and creative effort our Year 10 students have put in this term!
