Principal's Message
Linda Buckeridge: Principal

We are incredibly lucky at Hillsmeade to have such talented students! So many of our students are superstars in the areas of performing arts, sport, academic success, learning a different language - and the list goes on! However, on Friday 27th February we will be celebrating the particular success of students who will be leaders in 2026.
On the 27th our regular whole school assembly at 2.30pm will be a special presentation assembly, acknowledging our Student Leaders, Student Representative Council members and Wellbeing Ambassadors by presenting each student with their official badges. We welcome all members of the community to attend and look forward to celebrating each of our badge recipients in front of the whole school.
Please note our annual Family Fun Night will now be held on Monday 23rd March at the same time of 3.30pm - 5.15pm.
Apologies for the change, but with proposed strike action scheduled for that day we thought it would be better to plan ahead!
Thank you for your understanding.
It is so important that we please respect our neighbours by parking only in marked car spaces provided. We have been made aware that families are parking on nature strips, which is not ideal. The Council has been notified and Victoria Police often complete regular rounds of schools during pick up and drop off times. PLEASE make sure you are mindful of your choice in parking, that it is safe for your children and respectful of our larger community.
Don't forget to keep your eye on Compass for upcoming tasks to be posted for families. These updates on your child's progress will contribute to their overall achievement progression throughout the semester and will be discussed and reflected during Family-Teacher Conversations and end of semester reporting.
You may have noticed throughout all areas of the school we have been working to build strong routines since day one of 2026. The school had many routines already in place, however students have now been significant contributors in helping to establish new routines across classrooms. We look forward to seeing these evolve throughout the year and thank our families for your understanding and support in helping our staff establish these routines.
This year we have updated the Photographing, Filming and Recording Policy and student consent form, in line with Department policies, standards and expectations.
We now require families to opt in to three options for consent, in order to use images of our students in the school, in the school community and/or beyond the school community.
The updated consent form will be sent home to families and we ask you to please return this by 27th February. If you do not return the form, it is assumed you do not consent to images of your child being published by Hillsmeade PS.
Current media consent will be in place until 27th February, or until families have returned the updated form.
Thank you for helping us with this revised approach for 2026.
