Early Learning Centre

Our Learning - Weeks 4 & 5
The Outcomes are based on the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF). The VEYLDF is a curriculum framework designed for early childhood education in Victoria, focusing on children birth to eight years.
Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity Children have been demonstrating their autonomy in choosing when and how much to eat during progressive morning teas. This can also be seen in their choice of activity throughout the day, learning through play alongside others with respect or selecting solitary experiences. Sense of identity is being learned through sharing of the All About Me forms with friends, helping to understand and explore a variety of cultures and interests. |
Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world At group times or in small groups, children are having opportunities to share what they enjoy and what changes they would like to see in the room and outside. Through stories, small worlds and interactions with Aqeela and Jaimie, children are learning about cultures from around the world, discovering both differences and similarities as they begin to understand diversity. Through trips to the foyer for library, children are also learning how to navigate other areas of the centre with respect for other users, moving carefully and keeping voices low to allow those working in offices or learning in English class to keep their focus.

Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing Children are feeling more confident in finding spaces that match their needs, seeking calming corners, friends to join or asking for additional resources. They are sharing their knowledge with each other about our routines, classroom expectations and safety rules. |
Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners Curiosity is seen from every child, every day, as they delve into the range of activities open to them. Recently we've added some plants to our gardens outside which saw a range of volunteers across all rooms, children working together to turn the gardens over, dig holes, plant and then fetch buckets of water to settle the plants in. Multiple questions were asked with children often providing answers to each other from their previous experience or knowledge. |
Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators Not only are children expanding their vocabulary and communication skills through playing with each other, they are also learning to share their thoughts and opinions during group times. Singing of songs, use of actions and key word sign are assisting children to expand their communication abilities. |
