Buddies

In Buddies this term, the Preps have been learning about what it means to be a good friend. Together with their buddies, they brainstormed the different qualities that make someone a good friend, such as being kind, caring, helpful and including others. They then worked together to create a friendship flower, with each petal showing a different quality of a great friend.

Book Week

We had a wonderful time celebrating Book Week! It was fantastic to see so many students dress up as their favourite book characters and share their love of books with their classmates. Congratulations to our three costume winners, Bomi (PW), Hayah (PE) and Isabella (PC), who each enjoyed choosing a special book from the Book Fair. A big thank you to all of our students and families for getting involved and helping make the celebrations so much fun!

A highlight of the week was a visit from author Chris Collin, with students especially enjoying his entertaining book Funky Chicken. We also explored some of this year’s shortlisted books, including A Farm by the Sea by Jillian Packer. Students loved looking closely at the detailed illustrations before creating their own “farm by the sea” artwork in response to the text.

It was also wonderful to see so many families visiting and enjoying the Scholastic Book Fair. Thank you for helping us celebrate books, reading and the joy of sharing stories!

Text Study

In Text Study, we have been learning how to make connections between texts and our own experiences. We have been exploring poems, identifying rhyming words and sounds, discussing what is happening in the text and making connections to our own lives. We have also been developing our vocabulary and practising writing sentences to share our ideas and experiences.
