Captains Corner 

In the past few weeks a lot has happened. For example, the district athletics that took place on the 8th September. Congratulations to all the students that are moving on to division and that participated in district. Our school ranked third, which is one of the best results we have ever had! Furthermore, in week 7, we had book week with amazing and outstanding costumes being worn on Monday 24th August. DPS thanks everyone for wearing such inspiring costumes to book week. In week 10,  the preps will have Kaboom sports and some of the grade sixes will help out the students participating. On Wednesday 16th September, the grade 6 students had water safety and we are so proud of the students that got to learn new techniques and skills with swimming.  This term has been jam packed with activities and fun events and soon the holidays will take place. Get rest on the holidays and come back ready for the last term of the year.

In Term 3, we have enjoyed many exciting events, including our DPS fundraising Colour Run, where we collected prizes, and the Book Week costume parade, where students and teachers dressed up as their favourite book characters. We also participated in the district athletics day, where Doncaster Primary School students proudly represented our school while competing in the events they love.

Another highlight was our Level 5–6 swimming program, where we went to the pool to develop important swimming and lifesaving skills. Term 3 has been so enjoyable and memorable! I can’t wait to see what amazing events Term 4 has in store for Doncaster Primary School!

Wow I can’t believe Term 3 is coming to an end. We’ve had such exciting things happening in the school! Firstly we had a science expo that included the whole school, prep to six. One wall showed our school the amazing things we had learnt at each year level, and the other side showed what some kids had discovered individually while willingly participating. Next we had our yearly book week parade and dress up! We saw lots of incredible costumes and were amazed by how much time the students had spent on them. Lastly, our senior year levels have been lucky enough to have some extra science time to have fun and learn with some Deakin University students that have been teaching us. In year 6 we have been learning about reversible, irreversible changes, chemical changes, and physical changes. So during this term we have had our science expo, our book week parade, and Deakin science, and I can’t wait to have more fun next term!

I had many highlights throughout the school term, but my favourite was the athletics carnival. Although I didn’t qualify for district athletics, I am proud of all the students who did. Good luck to everyone competing at the division athletics carnival! Another exciting event was the Book Week parade. It was amazing to see all the students dressed in their costumes and to watch each class parade in style. We have also continued to enjoy the Deakin Science incursions, which run on Friday mornings for Grade 6 students. My favourite experience was making oobleck by mixing cornflour and water. Stay safe and healthy during the holidays. I can’t wait to see everyone again next term!
