EAL TERM 3 Update

In Years 1 and 2, students have been completing word study activities and enjoying exploring a wonderful mix of modern texts and traditional fables. Through engaging stories such as The Lion and the Mouse, The Emperor’s Egg and Derek, they have been building their understanding and use of high-frequency words. Students have also been developing their sequencing and verbal  retelling skills, providing opportunities to practise    all three language modes. 

In Years 3 and 4, students have been developing their writing skills through a range of engaging activities. They have completed their ‘Favourite Season’ writing tasks, focusing on editing and refining their work, as well as using facts about the seasons to create informative reports. Students have been learning how to follow an information report structure, using clear subheadings and paragraphs to organise and present their ideas. It has been wonderful to see their growing confidence as writers.

In Years 5 and 6, students have been developing their research and writing skills through information reports comparing the climates of China and Australia. They have enjoyed discovering new and interesting facts 

while building their vocabulary and learning how to use subject-specific language. Students have also been editing and refining their work, developing their understanding of English conventions and becoming more confident and independent writers. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity and enthusiasm shine through their learning.
