Principal's Report
Dear Parents and Friends of DPS,
As we come to the end of Term 3, I would like to take a moment to reflect on what has been a busy and productive term across our school community.
A key focus for our students this term has been the development of strong routines that support readiness for learning. We have continued to reinforce the importance of arriving prepared, being organised, listening attentively, following classroom routines and making positive choices that create the conditions for learning.
It has also been wonderful to welcome new students and families into our school community this term. We are proud of the way our students and staff have embraced new members of our community and helped them to feel a sense of belonging. Building a welcoming and inclusive school environment remains an important part of who we are at DPS.
Term 3 has also provided many opportunities for students to learn beyond the classroom and represent our school with pride. Our Athletics Sports and District Athletics events have given students the opportunity to challenge themselves, demonstrate resilience and sportsmanship, and celebrate their achievements. Whether competing, encouraging others or simply having a go, these experiences build confidence and a sense of pride in self and school.
A particular highlight has been the Level 4 school camp to Camp Rumbug. Camp provides students with experiences that cannot be replicated in the classroom. It encourages independence, teamwork, problem-solving and resilience, while also strengthening friendships and connections between students and staff. I would like to thank our staff for the tremendous organisation and care that went into making the camp such a valuable experience for our students.
I'd like to thank the Junior School Council for their promotion of the Colour Run. This promises to be a great day in Term 4, where we are hopeful of having lot of our community there on the day to support. Students are taking great delight in telling me just how much slime will be on my face:)
I'd also like to thank Mrs Meilak, Mr Simpson and Mrs Ryan who have supported in the office over the last three weeks, ensuring a smooth day-day running of the school.
Over the holidays, we will be having some works done to our Junior School Building and Level 2 Building, with covers being installed over entrances. We look forward to these works being completed.
A reminder that this Friday students will be dismissed at 2:15pm.
On behalf of all the staff at DPS, I would like to wish you all a safe and happy holiday, hopefully enjoying some sunshine. We look forward to seeing all student back on Monday 5 October for a big Term 4.
