Term 3 has begun, and with it, the resumption of our English classes.
This is an exciting time of the year, as we move into new topics and new skills across the board.
Our Year 7 classes have begun their persuasive unit, writing letters to local politicians around the issue of pollution.
In the Year 8 classrooms, students are exploring the ideas of Social Media and cyberbullying, with the goal of creating a blog post to speak out against the issue.
The Year 9's are completing research on a chosen topic, in order to create a persuasive speech.
Within our Year 10 VCE classes, students are working on a film analysis of Rachel Perkins' Bran Nue Dae, whilst our Year 10 VCE:VM students are working on Career goals and exploring pathways. Year 10's have also just completed their subject selection expo. If you have any questions about the right English for Year 11, please reach out to your teachers.
The Year 11 English VCE students are analysing Rear Window, a film by Alfred Hitchcock.
Meanwhile, our Year 11 English Language students are discussing the changes that the English language has undergone over the last 1500 years.
Our Year 11 VCE:VM Literacy students are completing work planning for an excursion.
Finally, our Year 12 VCE English students are completing their work on analysing arguments.
In other news, Woodmans Hill Secondary College will be presenting some fun activities and celebrations for Book Week in Week 7 of this term, starting on the 1st of September. On Wednesday the 3rd, there will be a dress up as your favourite book character day. It is important to note that this is not a free dress up day. If a student is not dressed as their favourite character, they should be in full school uniform.
