Intermediate Boys Cricket - Southern Metropolitan Quarter Final

After winning the Greater Dandenong district competition in Term 1, the Intermediate (9&10) Boys Cricket team played their Southern Metro Region Quarter Final on Wednesday 23 October. After a washout the previous week we finally got to play.

Our opponents were Koo Wee Rup SC and we were pretty optimistic in the lead up to this game.

Unfortunately a couple of injuries left us short but the boys made do with what they had and put in a lion-hearted effort.

Batting first we  made 86 off our allotted 20 overs in the T20 game format. Tejas G opened the batting and compiled a well-paced 19, turning the strike over for the hitters to do their thing. After the loss of a few quick wickets our middle order, Rizwan A (15) Hamza A (14) and Qudratullah K (13) added respectability to the score.

This gave us a reasonable target to defend but being short of fielders left many gaps in the field that could not be covered.

Our bowlers bowled a consistent line and length, as was our plan, but our opposition took their chances and passed our total of 86 with the loss of only 2 wickets. Shivesh MK and Rizwan A took one wicket each.

Well done boys on advancing this far and thank you for an enjoyable year of cricket.
