From the Principal

It has been a fantastic start to the term. There is no doubt the highlight has been our farewell to the graduating class of 2024.

The final weeks began with intensity for all Year 12 students as they completed assessments, received feedback on practice exams and immersed themselves in their studies. Week 3 was a true community celebration, which included a House lunch, the graduation photo, a day out to Gumbuya World and culminated in the final assembly. The entire school acknowledged their significant achievement in completing their six years of secondary schooling and over 200 friends and family were there to support them. Julian Hill’s valedictory message was magnificent, as was the final address from our School Captains, but the most memorable moment, I think, was when our Year 12 students paraded out of the gym to audience applause. We are incredibly proud of all of them and wish them well in their future endeavours.

Two other key events have also showcased the talents of students in other year levels. The Senior Visual Art Exhibition that displayed work from Art, Media and Visual Communication was spectacular. The standard of exhibits was incredibly high and it was difficult to select a winning entry for the Principal’s Art award. Congratulations to Francesca O for her original oil painting “Here in Simpson’s Gap”.

The Design Expo was also a pleasure to attend and highlighted the learning from all subjects within the Design and Technology Domain. I joined with parents and staff in watching music and drama performances, was in awe of the project presentations from STEM and Design Engineering Academy students and thoroughly enjoyed the tasty treats provided by Food students and teachers. I encourage you to read through this latest issue, which includes further details of these events as well as the other amazing things that are happening around the school.

I wish all students who are busily preparing for end of year exams or final assessments well in the remaining weeks of the year and look forward to seeing you all at our awards evening at the Robert Blackwood Hall at Monash University on Wednesday 18th December.
