Hakea House

As we wrap up our time as Hakea House Captains, Junior and I want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their support throughout this incredible journey. Being part of Hakea has been a highlight of our school life; the friendships, teamwork and spirit we built together made it truly special.

This year, we made a significant impact through our social service initiatives, raising funds for the Smith Family Foundation, and I want to thank everyone who participated—your efforts made a real difference. The Hakean SRC and HLT team worked tirelessly, hosting the glazed donuts sale and Helping Hands, both of which proved very successful judging by the amount of funds raised.

I’ve also truly enjoyed witnessing our House come together with such energy and enthusiasm during events like Chorales, Swimming and Athletics. The spirit and camaraderie displayed in these competitions created lasting memories that I’ll cherish forever. I encourage everyone next year to keep this tradition alive and participate in these events.

In addition, as part of the Careers Learning Tutor program, the Year 10s were involved in a careers ‘speed dating’ forum, where they got to speak to many people from different walks of life, including police officers, writers and inventors. This experience gave the students valuable insight into pathway options and improved their communication skills. What a great way to learn about future career possibilities!

I would also like to take this chance to thank the Hakea staff and HLT team for being the backbone of our amazing journey this year; their support was crucial to our success.

We hope our House continues the legacy of being the best House in the school, filled with competitive yet positive spirits, friendships and strong connections.
