Mock Interviews

On Monday the 19th of August, Year 11 Work Related Skills students prepared themselves for the world of work by participating in mock interviews. The Ardoch Youth Foundation offered this wonderful opportunity along with a range of great resources to help students get ready for the experience. After a few weeks of preparing resumes and learning about how to present and perform at job interviews, students tested their skills with the generous volunteers from Ardoch. After the interview, they received feedback and reflected on their performance. Students really valued the experience and represented the volunteers with a Dandenong High School pen as a token of their appreciation.

Aged Care Home Visits

As a part of their VET Community Services course, students in Year 11 and Year 12 visited Estia Health, an aged care home in Dandenong. They made four visits to the Lifestyle Program throughout August. Over the first two weeks, they delivered aged care activities such as making friendship bracelets and bowling. For the second two weeks, they had to devise as well as deliver the activities, and they did an incredible job! Finally, they decided to run a photo booth and make beads to decorate and personalise the residents’ walkers and wheelchairs. Over the course of the month, the students really developed their confidence and ability to engage with the residents, showing great maturity, compassion and resourcefulness. The staff at Estia Health were great to work with and really appreciated the energy and enthusiasm the young people brought with them, and many students commented on how much they enjoyed the experience. The students should be very proud of their wonderful achievements!
