iCan Challenge 2026
Raising money for the Good Friday Appeal
iCan Challenge 2026
Raising money for the Good Friday Appeal
At lunchtime on Monday 15 September, we launched the iCan Challenge 2026 with a very special Flag Relay that commenced outside the General Office, snaked through five stages around the school and culminated at the lower courtyard, where we raised the flag beside our iCan Challenge 2026 pledge table.
Though it was a very windy day, the sun shone upon us and the event had a festival feel with two of the Wantirna College Contemporary Bands performing live music, a sausage sizzle and coffee van. All students that pledged to join the iCan Challenge 2026 received a wristband and free sausage or hot chocolate.
Our flag bearers were:
Stage 1: Principal Wallis & Jackson Taylor handed the flag to College Captain Fiona Bui, who raised the most money in 2024.
Stage 2: Fiona passed the flag to Thomas McGee, Ms Julie Dance and College Captain, Katherine Styles. Thomas helped present the cheque to the Good Friday Appeal, in person, in 2024 when we raised almost $51,000.
Stage 3: Thomas passed the flag to Mr Clarke Bull and Blake Jolme, Rocky Thompson and College Captain, Harrison Bedford who ran their stage. In 2024, Blake and Rocky ran 5km of the walkathon. Next year, Clarke Bull will be running the whole way!
Stage 4: Clarke passed the flag to Kaitlyn Kos, Dimitre Gosios, Maddison Gunn, Ella Wallis-Carnie, Deng Kuot and Mrs Tanya Moran, representing all the staff and students who have done the iCan Challenge in the past.
Stage 5: Kailtyn passed the flag to Isabelle Kos and some Year 7 students, representing future participants of the iCan Challenge, accompanied by College Captain, Phoenix Rigano.
The flag relay was reported live by Mr Mason over the school speaker system right up until the flag was raised.
Thank you to special guests, Jackson Taylor MP and Claire O'Riordan from the Good Friday Appeal as well as the GFA mascot, Welby, for coming along to this special event to launch the iCan Challenge 2026.
All students were invited to attend an information session on Tuesday 16 September where they received an iCan Starter Pack with information about next years event, training walks and how to raise money.
For students who have pledged, registration is now open via the Compass Event. If you are interested in joining the iCan Challenge 2026, please email Ms Moran:
Our next iCan Challenge will be held on Thursday 1 April 2026 and this time it will be bigger and better than ever before! We will have more participants, including local schools, and hope to also have some business sponsors.
