Environment Club

We would like to introduce the initiative of the Environmental Action Club at Wantirna College!

We are a student led club, made up of like-minded students who are passionate about making our school more sustainable, one step at a time. Our mission is to create positive changes for the environment through our actions, creative and sustainable projects, as well as community involvement.

To kick things off, we are excited to announce our first project: A herb garden! After discussions with the Food Tech teachers, we are working together to grow fresh herbs that will support both sustainability and learning within our school.

Next Term, on Thursday 16 October at lunch time, we will meet our regional Resource Smart School facilitator for a professional development session to discuss our goals and how to achieve them.  There are some other schools in the area who are ahead of us in their sustainable school journey and we would like to learn from them, too. We would like to invite more students and staff to get involved, as these long term goals will require a collective effort but the rewards will be priceless!

Meanwhile, you can visit this website to remember the small acts that you can easily apply at home/school/workplace  that could have a big impact on our planet.

If you have great ideas, enthusiasm, or simply want to help the environment, we’d love for you to join us!
