Connect Crew

This term has been a busy and rewarding one for our Connect Crew, with plenty of opportunities for hands-on learning, teamwork, and giving back to our community.

Over the past month, the Crew have been working around the grounds at Templeton Tennis Club. Their tasks have included moving soil, planting, mulching, and lots of weeding. It has been wonderful to see their persistence and willingness to roll up their sleeves, even when the work has been physically demanding. Thanks to their efforts, the grounds are looking fantastic, and the President of Templeton Tennis Club Chris, has shared his gratitude and enthusiasm for the outstanding job the students have done. It has been a real demonstration of the pride the Connect Crew take in their work and the difference they can make in the community.

Alongside their work in the community, the Crew have also been developing their independence and problem solving skills through a cooking project. Over the past fortnight, the students were given the responsibility to plan a cooking session from start to finish. They researched different recipes, voted on their favourites, and organised themselves to ensure they could complete their chosen dishes within the session. The results were creative and varied, ranging from muffins and biscuits to homemade breads and even kebabs! Beyond the tasty outcomes, the project highlighted the importance of teamwork, clear communication, and time management, all of which the Crew demonstrated with enthusiasm.

As the term draws to a close, our focus has turned back to maintaining the school environment. The Connect Crew have worked hard to keep our gardens weed-free, with particular care given to our thriving veggie patch. The team has also taken responsibility for ensuring the school grounds remain tidy and welcoming for everyone. Even our fish tank, which is cleaned on a regular fortnightly basis, will be receiving an extra spruce-up before the holidays. These tasks may seem small, but they reflect the pride the students take in caring for their school and ensuring it remains a positive space for all.

It has been inspiring to see how the Connect Crew have grown in confidence, responsibility, and teamwork throughout Term 3. Their achievements reflect not just the skills they have learned, but also the values of respect, cooperation, and care for others.

We would like to congratulate the Connect Crew on their efforts this term and wish everyone in our school community a safe and happy holiday. We look forward to welcoming our Crew back in Term 4 to see what new opportunities and challenges await them!
