News from the Library

Holiday Reading
Changeable Spring weather is upon us, and what could be better on a blustery wet day than curling up with a book? If students don’t have a book handy, eBooks and audiobooks are available through the Library catalogue, accessed via Compass from the Star-dropdown menu.
You can also check out your local Council library. Eastern Regional Libraries, of which the Knox Library in Westfield is a member, has a huge collection of online books via the Libby app. Check out the selection here. Students can sign up at any branch, or can be signed up online here (and adults here). By joining, you get the benefit of free access to their wide range of electronic resources including ebooks, audiobooks, emagazines, the Encyclopaedia Britannica, LinkedIn Learning, Mango Languages and Aussie Driver.
Returning Books - End of Year
With the end of the year fast approaching, despite regular classroom and email reminders there is often still a great deal of overdue Library books out there. Reminder emails are sent weekly to students, so please check their Junk folder in case there is one lurking in there. We have also this week emailed home for those students with items more than one Term overdue.
Students can log in to the Library catalogue to check their loans. Simply head to the Library catalogue by clicking on the link in the Compass Star-dropdown menu. Log in using your school details, then click on your name to open a dropdown menu and choose Loans. It's that easy! Remember – Library books are a shared commodity and need to be returned so others can enjoy reading them. Thanks for your help.
Term 4 Resident Writers
Resident Writers is a chance for all writers and poets out there to share their talents with the school community. It is held once a term, and there are three categories - Students, Staff, and Family & friends - with a prize for the winning student entry.
Students who participated in the Amie Kaufman author workshop are especially encouraged to enter.
Send your entries to library@wantirnacollege.vic.edu.au with the subject line Resident Writers. Entries close at the end of Week 4, Friday October 31st.
If it is a Family & Friends submission, please mention which student or staff member you are connected to. By submitting you agree to be published to the school community (on Teams, in the College Yearbook, etc) - please let the Library know if you want to submit but prefer to keep your work anonymous. Past entries can be read in the resident Writers Gallery at the top of the Library Team – Resident Writers channel.
