📅 Key VTAC dates can be found here: https://vtac.edu.au/dates.html
If you are planning to apply for undergraduate teaching courses through VTAC, please check whether you are required to complete the Casper test and book in early.
What is Casper?
Casper is an online, non-cognitive test designed to assess an applicant’s personal and professional attributes. It is a requirement for many initial teacher education courses in Victoria. To find out if Casper is needed, look under the Selection Requirements section of the VTAC course entry. Learn more about preparing for Casper here: Casper Test Prep
Key Information
You must register at least 2 days before your chosen test date.
To be eligible for offers, you must complete Casper by the final test date for each VTAC offer round.
Some universities (e.g. ACU, Monash) use alternatives to Casper, but most require it.
Deakin University requires Casper but will reimburse the cost when you enrol.
If you are applying to multiple Education courses, sitting Casper is usually the simplest option.
Always read the VTAC Course Requirements carefully!
2025 Casper Test Dates
Sunday 24 August – 10am AEST
Thursday 11 September – 7pm AEST
Sunday 5 October – 10am AEDT - Recommended (before exams begin)
Tuesday 4 November – 7pm AEDT
Thursday 4 December – 7pm AEDT
Please note: If you do not complete Casper (or an institution’s specific requirement), you will not be considered for teaching courses. If you have any questions or need help registering, please contact Mrs Dennison or Mr Knowles.
English Language Proficiency Declaration Form
If you’re applying for a nursing or midwifery course through VTAC, you’ll need to submit an English Language Proficiency Declaration once you’ve added any such courses to your preferences. This is a requirement to be considered for offers in nursing and midwifery.
What you need to do:
Log into your VTAC accountGo to your Dashboard, find the “Course Requirements” section, then to “Additional Tasks.” That’s where the Declaration Form is.
Choose the correct pathway (one of three options):
AHPRA Registration Pathway: If you already hold registration (Enrolled Nurse, Registered Nurse, or Midwifery), provide your AHPRA number. – this is not relevant to us.
Primary Language Pathway: If English is your primary language and you have completed at least six years of schooling (with at least two years at secondary level) where all instruction and assessment was in English in specific countries (e.g. Australia, NZ, UK, US, South Africa, Ireland) – this is what most students will select.
English Test Pathway: If you plan to or have already sat a recognised English test (like IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, OET) by VTAC’s documentation deadline. You’ll need to upload your test results into your VTAC account. – for EAL and/or international students.
3. Submit any required supporting documentation. Depending on the pathway you pick, there may be extra documents needed. Upload them via the “Submit Course Application Documents” section of VTAC.
Why this matters:
Without the completed Declaration Form, you won’t meet all the requirements for nursing or midwifery course applications via VTAC.
Choosing the correct pathway and providing documentation ensures your application won’t be delayed or ineligible.
For full details, see VTAC’s guide: Nursing & Midwifery English Language Proficiency Declaration Form VTAC
If you’re unsure or need help, please reach out to Mrs Dennison or Mr Knowles.
