Year 7 – Bunting

This term, Year 7 students have been busy building their construction skills through the design and creation of bunting flags. Their creativity has shone, and we are proud of what they have achieved in such a short time. Well done, Year 7!

Year 8 – Soft Toys for Charity

Our Year 8 students have worked extremely hard designing and making soft toys to donate to charity. The results have been imaginative and heart-warming, with some students even creating a second toy to take home. Keep an eye out for a wonderful mix of animals, aliens, and “mini-me” characters.

Years 9 & 10 Fashion & Products

In the Fashion and Products elective, students have shown a growing passion for textiles. They have designed and produced a wide range of creative outcomes, including shirts, tops, heat bags, soft toys, pet clothing, kitchen accessories, and tote bags. Along the way, they’ve strengthened their skills in screen printing, tie-dye, and sewing. We are so proud of their dedication and can’t wait to see what they create in next term’s sustainability group project.

VCE Product Design & Technology

Our senior students have brought incredible energy and skill to their projects as Year 12s complete their final outcomes for Unit 4. Their work explores ethical and sustainable solutions while raising awareness about important issues such as moth extinction, ocean pollution, and the benefits of upcycled materials. Some students have focused on improving wellbeing through functional, comfortable clothing and weighted textured toys. We are thrilled to be showcasing their outcomes in the upcoming Art & Technology Showcase and wish them every success in their future pathways.

Meanwhile, Year 11 students have been busy creating innovative outcomes, from heated weighted belts and toys to runway-ready outfits that challenge us to think about our role in coral bleaching and environmental impact. Their creativity and innovation are truly inspiring.

Congratulations to the entire Textiles team for their creativity, commitment, and achievements this term – we are so proud of you all!

Year 7 & 8 Food Studies

Year 7 and 8 students are wrapping another term of Food Studies, where they have been able to expand on their cooking skills. Students have learnt a range of skills in the kitchen, practicing their measuring, chopping and preparation skills. They have been challenged to read and adapt a recipe to suit their chosen ingredients for a taco design task or pizza design task where they cooked independently, challenging their understanding of ingredient, processes and cutting techniques.

Students have learnt all about healthy eating, nutrition and culture and cuisines from around the world. They have been able to produce a range of food items from chocolate chip cookies, ham & cheese puffs as well as apple crumble and muffins!
