Sport 2026

Our Sport program for 2026 kicks off with Senior Trials on the first day back on Wednesday 28 January with their first round of competition on Wednesday 11 February. Year 8/9 trials for EISM Sport will start on Thursday 29 January to be ready for their first round of competition on Thursday 12 February.

Our Year 7’s will start their Sport on Monday 2 February with sign-ups for our House Swimming Carnival that will take place on the following Monday 9 February. Athletic trials for Year 7 students will commence on Monday 2 February on and around the oval in preparation for the House Athletics that will take place on Thursday 26 February.

Next year the EISM Division 2 Swimming Carnival against other schools moved forward to Tuesday 24 February. Students who perform well during our House Swimming on Monday 9 February will be selected to represent the College on this day.

February is a very packed Sports Program for our students with three Carnivals in three weeks. It will be much appreciated if parents can motivate their children over the school holidays to prepare for the swimming and athletics for them to be competitive and prepared for their events.

Congratulations to all our students for your contribution to sport in this year, especially those who served as captains for their teams and who received MVP and BTP medals. A big thank you to all our Year 12 students who willingly gave up their time to represent Oxley in their final year. Thanks to all our Staff and students for the way you represented the College this year. Let us make 2026 an even bigger year in Oxley Sport by preparing yourself over the holidays. I hope to see you all back in 2026 and I wish you all a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Notable Achievements

Andrew B (12.10) led the Eastern Ranges Squad as their captain this year to a premiership in a historic win at Ikon Park. This was the first premiership for the Eastern Ranges in 12 years.

Andrew’s name also appeared on the 2025 Telstra AFL pre-season draft that was recently announced. He played in the U/18 Vic Metro Championships and recently signed with North Melbourne VFL where he had the chance to train with the AFL team.  We are looking forward to following Andrew in his footy career and wish him all the best.

Ryder H (9.10) recently took part in the Victorian All School Track and Field Championships at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park. The competition served as selection for both the National All Schools Championships to be held in Melbourne this month and the Australian Athletics Championships in Brisbane in April 2026.

On the opening weekend, Ryder competed in the U/16 1500m and 2000m Steeplechase events. He ran a personal best of 4:25 in the 1500m, and another PB of 6:31 in the steeplechase — in an Australian U/17 qualifying time — earning selection to represent Team Victoria at Nationals in Brisbane next year. In the final weekend a strong field of 28 athletes lined up for the U/16 800m where he just missed out on placing, but still run a personal best of 2:04, less than a second off national qualification for this event. Congratulations Ryder and we are looking forward to your success next year.
