What Did You Do At School?

Prep
The Preps put on an incredible performance of the Nativity! You can view the photos over on the Prep Nativity page.
Year 1
Year 1 students have been exploring their inner engineers this term through the construction of robots! Our focus has been on our active engagement in the design process, emphasising creativity and problem-solving over the final product. The chatter in the classroom has been filled with exciting design ideas, from robots that fold laundry to those that go to school for us! The students have also been considering the best ways to communicate and advertise the functions of their robot, in the hope that they may attract potential buyers.
Mrs Boer, Mrs Bonte, and Mr Gaiser celebrate how much all of you have grown this year, spiritually, socially, academically, and physically. We hope and pray that you and your families have a blessed and restorative Christmas break, filled with joy, peace, and opportunities to create new treasured memories. We look forward to seeing the wonderful, capable students you will become in Year 2!
Year 2
As we reach the end of a busy semester, we are thankful for all the wonderful experiences we’ve had and everything we have learned. We have also deeply valued our friendships. The students were thrilled at the Twisted Science excursion, where we conducted experiments involving light. There was much excitement as we explored hands-on learning, creating and launching rockets and making giant bubbles in the bubble pit. We also enjoyed sharing our poems with parents and friends during the Poetry Celebration. Thank you to all the visitors who provided thoughtful feedback on our poems.
We are now looking forward to a wonderful Christmas holiday and are very excited to begin Year 3 when we return!
The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. Psalm 126:3
Year 3
The Art of Stop-Motion
This term, Year 3 students embarked on an exciting creative journey into the world of stop-motion animation. Working in groups of three to four, students learned just how much teamwork, patience, and imagination goes into bringing a story to life, one frame at a time.
They began by brainstorming ideas and sketching detailed storyboards. Using modelling clay, they sculpted their own characters and props, carefully designing sets that matched the mood and action of their stories. Once iPads were set up, students recorded each frame with impressive focus and precision. The results were wonderful: a collection of imaginative stop-motion films that captured humour, adventure, and plenty of creativity.
On Tuesday 2 December, we rolled out the ‘red carpet’ for the Year 3 Film Festival. Students proudly presented their creations to classmates, teachers, and families, showcasing weeks of hard work and artistic problem-solving. It’s safe to say we have some future filmmakers, animators, and producers in our midst!
Well done, Year 3, on a truly inspiring term of learning and creativity!
Year 4
As we come to the end of Year 4, we are incredibly proud of everything we have achieved together. One of the highlights of the last few weeks was sharing our original poems at the Poetry Celebration and premiering our stop-motion films. We watched our animated films come to life on the big screen. It was amazing to see how much effort, imagination, and teamwork went into creating each unique story.
To celebrate the end of the year, we enjoyed a relaxing walk to the park, where we spent time playing, talking, and reflecting on the memories we have made. As we look forward to Year 5, we are excited for new challenges, new learning, and new opportunities to grow together.
Year 5
It is amazing to think that 2025 has drawn to a close. In Year 5, we have spent time designing, creating and refining an innovative toy. This project has pushed our thinking and sparked fresh ideas. As part of our Integrated Studies unit, we explored advertisements, market research and the many steps involved in producing items that people want to buy. These lessons helped us understand how real products move from an idea to the hands of a customer. We used our new knowledge to build five products that we felt our Year 1 buddies would enjoy. They received fake money and visited our stalls to make their purchases. The energy in the room was wonderful. Many students showed a clear flair for business and some displayed confident sales skills. It would not surprise us if we see a few future entrepreneurs in our midst.
It is sad to farewell this school year. It has been a rich and memorable journey for all of us. Our attention now shifts to 2026 and we are feeling very excited for the adventures that await us in Year 6.
