Poetry Celebration

Last week, our school community came together for a special event that highlighted the creativity and expressive talents of our students, our Poetry Celebration

From Prep to Year 6, every class proudly shared original poems they had written, demonstrating the rich and diverse learning that has taken place throughout the term. Students explored a wide range of poetic styles, including acrostics, haiku, free verse, rhyming poems, and performance poetry. They experimented with poetic devices such as alliteration, simile, metaphor, repetition, and onomatopoeia to bring their writing to life. It was inspiring to see how confidently students used language to engage, entertain, and evoke emotion in their audience.

Parents and visitors were invited into classrooms and shared spaces to listen, read, and respond to students’ work. Many students chose to present their poetry aloud, showcasing not only their writing skills but also their growing confidence in public speaking and performance.

The Poetry Celebration was a wonderful reminder of the power of words and the joy that comes from creative expression. Congratulations to all students for their effort, imagination, and enthusiasm. We look forward to seeing how their love of literature continues to grow.
