💛 RUOK? Day at Sacred Heart 💛
RU OK? Day 2026 - Ask. Listen. Encourage Action. Check In.
At Sacred Heart, student wellbeing remains at the heart of everything we do. We know that positive relationships, a sense of belonging, and feeling connected to others are essential for children to thrive both socially and academically.
While we won’t be hosting parents at school for RUOK? Day this year, we will begin our day as a staff with a cuppa and a catch-up before the school day begins. It will be a chance for our staff to ask “Are you okay?”, listen to one another and make sure we are checking in with our colleagues before we begin supporting our students.
This week we will be recognising RU OK? Day, an important national initiative that encourages meaningful conversations and reminds us that a simple question can make a big difference in someone's life.
Wear a Splash of Yellow!
On RU OK? Day, students are invited to wear a splash of yellow with their school uniform. This could include:
- Yellow ribbons
- Yellow socks
- Yellow hair accessories
- Yellow hats (outdoors)
- Yellow wristbands
The purpose of this day is to promote kindness, connection and the importance of checking in with those around us.
What is RU OK? Day?
RU OK? Day encourages everyone to:
Ask someone how they are going.
Listen without judgement.
Encourage action if extra support is needed.
Check in again later.
These simple steps help young people develop empathy, strengthen friendships and create a school community where everyone feels valued, supported and included.
Wellbeing at Sacred Heart
Throughout the year, students participate in a range of wellbeing initiatives designed to support their emotional, social and mental health. These include:
Wellbeing Check-Ins
Classroom Circle Time Discussions
Positive Behaviour for Learning
Student Leadership and Buddy Programs
Social-Emotional Learning Activities
Individual and Small Group Support
Our aim is to equip students with the skills to recognise their emotions, seek help when needed, and support others in a respectful and caring manner.
Wellbeing Update: Mrs Ramsdale
What a busy and wonderful term we have had!
This week we have celebrated the completion of our Food Sensory Group, Chill Skills and Seasons for Growth sessions. It has been fantastic to see the students engage so positively in each of these groups, developing new skills, building confidence and learning strategies they can carry with them moving forward.
A big thank you to Yarra Health for supporting our Chill Skills groups, and to Mrs Ramsdale and Mrs Bourne for their wonderful contributions to our other group sessions also. Your support has helped make these programs such a positive experience for our students.
As we head into the September holidays, we hope they are filled with sunshine, beautiful spring blossoms, football and netball finals, and plenty of quality family time. Most importantly, remember to take some time to slow down, recharge and be kind to yourselves.
