STEAM News

STEAM Foundation

We have been exploring heat in STEAM and investigating how different materials respond to it. It was wonderful to see the interesting patterns created on our fabric sun shelters as we observed the effects of the sun.

This week, we discussed ways materials can be insulated from heat and then took on a fun challenge to stop an ice block from melting. Students trialled a variety of designs and discovered that there are many creative ways to reduce heat transfer.

We also continued our work with warm and cool colours by creating a Hot and Cold Dog artwork. Next week we will finish them off with a concertina fold.

Students worked in teams to build structures, encouraging collaboration, problem-solving and creativity. Each team proudly showed off their creation and struck a pose for a photo! It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience filled with teamwork, creativity and lots of fun.
