Round Square Global Challenge & Environmental Day 2025: A Celebration of Unity and Responsibility
On 16 May, students from both the Junior and Middle Schools enthusiastically participated in the Round Square Global Challenge. It was a powerful day of action and reflection, as students demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and kindness through their scheduled events. Junior School students, proudly led by our Year 5 School Leaders, completed a symbolic lap around the school, reinforcing our sense of unity and purpose. In the Middle School, student leaders ensured their peers were prepared with materials to create symbolic 'hand prints', each a pledge to help those in need.
These hand prints have now formed a striking mural, designed and assembled by our Year 9 students. Displayed in house colours and shaped to represent Earth, the mural is a beautiful reminder of our shared responsibility and the impact of collective action.
We are also looking forward to the upcoming Round Square events in our Senior School and Early Learning Centre. Staff and students are working collaboratively to ensure these experiences are meaningful and aligned with our school’s core values.
In addition, we are preparing to mark Environmental Day 2025 on Thursday, 5 June, with the global theme: Ending Plastic Pollution. This urgent issue, highlighted by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), calls on individuals, businesses, and governments to work together to reduce plastic use, enhance recycling efforts, and promote sustainable alternatives.
To commemorate the day, throughout Term 3, students will contribute to a collaborative mural titled "A Shared Environment", facilitated by Mrs Helena Scarlata, our Academic Learning Leader - Arts. This artwork will feature individual narratives reflecting our local and global environments, symbolising our ongoing commitment to the Round Square IDEALS. Through creativity, action, and shared responsibility, we continue to lead change and inspire hope for a more sustainable future.
