Senior School

As we officially mark the midpoint of Term 2, we find ourselves in a season of change, both in the calendar and in our day-to-day routine. The chill of winter is beginning to settle in, and with it often comes the added challenge of dark mornings, wet weather, and the struggle to stay motivated.

We know this can be a high-pressure time for everyone. Assessments are building, exams are on the horizon, and the workload can feel overwhelming. It’s important to remember that you are not alone. Staying on track with studies, maintaining a balanced social life, and most importantly taking care of your wellbeing are all essential in navigating the weeks ahead.

Our teachers are here to support. After-school tutoring is available across most subject areas, and we strongly encourage students to take advantage of these opportunities. In Year 10 Pastoral sessions, students have been focusing on essential study and organisation skills. Consolidated learning sessions have also been included in the pastoral sessions to help students gain a head start on study and exam preparation.

It was a privilege to accompany our two Captains and Vice Captains to the Melbourne Girls College Annual leadership conference where leaders form schools around Melbourne came together to discuss the changing landscape of challenges faced by young people and how leaders can step up to help. Upon reflection of the event, all four senior captains provided positive feedback and walked away with a lot to think about and much more to discuss. It was inspirational to see them working with leaders form other schools, representing Oakleigh Grammar impeccably.

Key dates to keep in mind:

  • Tuesday 4 June – Practice GAT (after school)
  • Friday 6 June – Senior School Liturgy (Period 1)
  • Friday 13 June – Year 10 and 11 Exams Begin (starting with English)
  • Tuesday 17 June – Official GAT

We know this stretch of the term can be intense, but with perseverance, support, and good habits, it can also be a time to push through the challenges and celebrate achievement. Keep showing up, stay connected, and look after yourselves and each other.

Wishing everyone a productive and focused few weeks ahead.
