Students across the Middle School are deep into the exciting phase of prototype creation in their Product Design classes. Each year level is exploring innovation through hands-on projects that combine creativity, sustainability, and real-world problem-solving.
Year 6 students are putting their time and energy into designing and making clocks that showcase both functionality and flair. With a strong focus on precision and aesthetics, they are learning about the mechanics of timekeeping and the importance of thoughtful design.
In Year 7, sustainability takes centre stage as students develop propeller-driven toy cars using recycled materials. These eco-conscious creations are not only fun but also promote environmental awareness and design resourcefulness.
Year 8 students are pushing boundaries by designing a futuristic artefact prototype. These imaginative creations draw from science fiction, speculative design, and emerging technologies, allowing students to envision and prototype objects that might exist in the world of tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Year 9 is rising to the challenge of designing a solar punk-inspired architectural solution for a city of their choice. Grounded in the principles of architecture, sustainability, and future-focused urban design, students are creating visionary buildings that blend environmental technology with creative aesthetics.
From recycled toys to future cities, it’s clear that Grammar students are not just learning about design – they’re shaping it. Watch this space as prototypes come to life in the weeks ahead!
