Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technology Enhancing Students’ Problem-Solving Methodology
This term, our students took on the Spaghetti Bridge Challenge - an exciting hands-on project that combined engineering, teamwork, and cutting-edge AI tools. Over Six lessons, students used ChatGPT with carefully crafted prompts to research and design single-span bridges, including truss and arch styles.
With only 250 grams of pasta and seven sticks of glue, teams worked creatively to plan their structures. Using digital technology, students explored bridge designs, tested ideas through 3D simulations, and refined their approaches before construction.
The classroom is filled with excitement as they begin building, eager to see their ideas take shape. This challenge not only sparks their interests in Computer Science, Civil Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, but also shows how digital tools can enhance research, design, and innovation in real-world projects.
