Junior School

What an incredible celebration we had at Oakleigh Grammar Junior School as we came together to embrace World Cultural Diversity Day! The day was a true reflection of the rich diversity that makes our school community so special, and we are so proud of our students for leading the way.
A Day of Celebration and Unity-
On Tuesday, our students took part in a vibrant celebration of their cultural backgrounds, showcasing the beautiful diversity that thrives within our school. Dressed in traditional attire from around the world, each student brought their own unique cultural heritage to life. From elegant saris and colourful kimonos to beautiful African prints and European folk costumes, the spirit of diversity was on full display.
The school tours that took place throughout the morning were made even more special by our students, who welcomed visitors in their traditional dress. The joy and respect shown by our students for their own cultures and the cultures of others was truly inspiring. It was a reminder of how our Oakleigh Grammar community is strengthened by the diversity we celebrate.
World Cultural Diversity Day was not just about celebrating our differences; it was also an opportunity to reflect on the values that guide us every day at Oakleigh Grammar. Throughout the day, our students exemplified our core values:
Humility: Our students proudly embraced their cultural identities while showing humility and grace in sharing their traditions with others.
Aspiration: The day reminded us of the importance of aspiring towards a world where respect and understanding unite us. Our students demonstrated a desire to grow, learn, and engage with diverse perspectives.
Respect: Every interaction, from the students’ engagement with one another to their welcoming attitude toward visitors, was filled with respect for cultural differences and shared values.
Kindness: The kindness shown by our students, whether in helping each other with their costumes, sharing stories of their cultures, or simply offering a smile, created a warm and inclusive atmosphere throughout the day.
A special thank you also goes to the parents and staff who supported the event, helping to make this celebration a success. Your continued support ensures that Oakleigh Grammar remains a place where every culture is not only welcomed but celebrated.
