Aboriginal Education

Welcome from the Cultural Room

Welcome back to Term 3

Another busy term to look forward to and we have really hit the ground running.

Selected students recently took part in the Boots for a Brighter Future program, where they had the incredible opportunity to design and paint 15 pairs of the Newcastle Knights’ football boots for the Indigenous Round.

On Tuesday the 29th July, the students proudly presented their beautifully painted boots to the Knights players—a proud and memorable moment for everyone involved.

A huge thank you to NRL School to Work for making this amazing experience possible, and to Johnny Robinson for his guidance and support throughout the painting process. This was a fantastic celebration of culture, creativity, and community.

Write it Right

The Write it Right Group has had an exciting start to the Term 3 & 4 program. Students were fortunate to spend time with Uncle Warren, who shared images of traditional artwork, rock paintings, and engravings, sparking rich discussion and cultural learning.

Following this, the group went out on Country to Yuelarbah Walking Track, guided by Nick,  Aunty Dawn and Mr Cohen. Students engaged respectfully and enthusiastically, making the most of this special opportunity to learn in a hands-on way.

A big congratulations goes to the students for their excellent start to the program, and a warm thank you to the staff involved for supporting such a valuable learning experience.
