Vocational Education and Training
This term, our Year 11 students enrolled in VET Manufacturing and Engineering and VET Business Services have been taking significant steps beyond the classroom through their mandatory work placements. These placements provide students with an invaluable opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge they have developed at school in real workplace environments.
Manufacturing and Engineering students will be gaining hands-on experience in settings such as fabrication workshops. The experience will reinforce key competencies and introduce students to the fast-paced and safety-conscious world of industrial manufacturing and engineering.
Business Services students have emersed themselves in office environment where they developed skills in customer service, data entry, document handling, and digital communication. Working alongside experienced professionals allows students to understand business operations, team dynamics, and the importance of workplace etiquette and time management.
Work placement is more than a curriculum requirement. Students gain confidence, insight into career pathways, and a clearer understanding of what employers expect. It also provides an opportunity to build networks and sometimes even leads to offers of part-time work, apprenticeships, or traineeships.
We commend our students for their professionalism and enthusiasm throughout their placements, and we thank the local businesses and organisations who continue to support our VET programs by providing meaningful and engaging workplace opportunities.
