Defence School Mentor News

There have been some recent changes to the school’s Defence Mentor Program.

Due to an increase in demand from schools around the country and a very competitive application process, Francis Greenway was unsuccessful in receiving further Defence Mentor funding for the 25/26 financial year. However, I have gladly accepted a role as a Student Learning Support Officer, as such I will remain as a friendly face around the school. I have been allocated some time on my schedule to continue with aspects of the Defence School Mentor Program, such as one-on-one check-ins with our Defence students who benefit from this additional support.

Defence Group will continue fortnightly on Thursdays (Week A). These social sessions where we enjoy a hot drink or treat and play games together provide social and emotional support for students, and allow them to build connections with other Defence students.

I will continue to email Defence families on occasion, to inform them of Defence-related resources, programs and opportunities in our area, so keep a lookout in your inbox for these.

If you are a Defence family and your child is not currently part of the Defence School Mentor Program, please notify myself or the school, so they can be included.
