This term Francis Greenway High School welcomed the Year 6 students from a range of primary schools in our broader local area to participate in Inquisitive Minds. Inquisitive Minds is a fantastic, empowering event filled with problem-solving and mathematical puzzles and workshops for young people to collaborate on and compete against each other.
The Mathematics Faculty at FGHS hosted this year's event and many of our incredibly talented Year 8 students faciliated the workshops.
Fourteen students from five different classes in Stage 4 have come together to compete in the worldwide competition 'Tournament of Minds'. Two teams of seven students from our school are competing across two challenge disciplines.
TRAMPOLIE is the name of the team composed of all Year 7 students who have taken on the Social Sciences challenge - 'TOMmunity Tackles Town Tensions!'. Students are tasked with designing a pair of facilities that could benefit our local community. Students are currently tackling a wide array of approaches including designing 3D models through CAD programs and creating a dramatic performance.
Reading Rivals
Reading Rivals are a team composed of both Year 7 and 8 students who are competing in the Language & Literature category. The challenge is titled 'Light, Dark and Tan', cleverly named after author Shaun Tan - of whom the team is tasked with bringing one of his stories to life. The group are reimaging one of his most famous books as a puppet show!
