Performing Arts

Foundation & Year 1
Students in Foundation and Year 1 enjoyed exploring storytelling through drama, music, and movement. They developed their creativity by using sound effects to help complete and bring stories to life. Throughout the term, students learned songs about the days of the week and participated in acting and miming activities that encouraged imagination and self-expression. These experiences helped students build confidence, listening skills, and an understanding of how stories can be communicated through voice, movement, and performance.
Year 2
Students in Year 2 have concluded the term by presenting short plays to their fellow students that they scripted and developed in small groups. Through this process, students worked collaboratively to create characters, plan storylines, and rehearse their performances. They demonstrated creativity, teamwork, and growing confidence as they shared their work with an audience. This experience helped students develop their communication, performance, and problem-solving skills while celebrating their learning in Performing Arts.
Year 3
Year 3 students concluded Term 2 by presenting their puppet shows to their peers. Throughout the term, they worked collaboratively in small groups to write and develop scripts for puppet performances. They explored character construction by creating unique personalities and voices for their characters, helping to bring their stories to life. Students also experimented with a variety of puppetry techniques and learned about the process of play construction, including planning, rehearsing, and performing. Through these activities, they developed creativity, communication skills, teamwork, and confidence as performers.
Year 4
Year 4 students concluded the term by presenting plays that they had scripted and performed for their peers. Working collaboratively in small groups, they developed characters, created storylines, and rehearsed their performances. They demonstrated creativity and teamwork throughout the process and enjoyed bringing their ideas to life on stage. Students particularly enjoyed the opportunity to perform in costume and support one another as they shared their work with an audience. Through this experience, they strengthened their confidence, communication, and performance skills while celebrating their achievements in Performing Arts.
Years 5 & 6
Years 5 and 6 concluded the term by presenting puppet shows that they had scripted and developed themselves. Throughout the term, students worked collaboratively in small groups to create engaging stories, develop characters, and write scripts for performance. They explored a range of puppetry techniques and practised bringing their characters to life through voice, movement, and expression. Students particularly enjoyed the opportunity to collaborate with their peers and express their creativity through scriptwriting and performance. Through this process, they developed confidence, teamwork, communication, and creative thinking skills.
