Valedictory awaits

It is difficult to believe that we are nearing the end of Term Three!

With Year 12 students heading into their Mock Examinations next week, excitement is building about their final few weeks of secondary schooling, culminating in Valedictory on Wednesday 22 October. Year 12 families, please keep a look out for the invitation to Valedictory that will be sent shortly, containing the RSVP link to confirm your attendance to this important celebration at St George’s Cathedral, with refreshments afterwards on Level 2 at 441 Murray Street.

Parent Sundowner update

Coming up next week are our long-anticipated Parent Sundowners, also being held on Level 2 at 441 Murray Street. Thank you to all parents, guardians and carers who sent through their RSVP; these are now closed due to event capacity restrictions by the City of Perth. This is a student-free event. Any parents, guardians or carers who wish to undertake a self-guided tour around our wonderful new campus are welcome to arrive from 5.00pm to do so. Staff will be available on each floor to provide directions and answer questions. Tours will cease at the official event start time of 6.00pm with the commencement of the sundowner. We are looking forward to showing you our lovely new building.

Mobile phone use

For some of our St George’s students, one of the more difficult school rules to adhere to is the responsible use of mobile phones. In my conversations with students who have had their phone confiscated for a day, I often speak with them about the need to be disciplined in leaving their phone in their locker, especially those who are “frequent flyers” when it comes to the misuse of this technology during the school day.

Students are reminded that, when their phone is confiscated, they are unable to access it until collection from the Associate Dean of Students & Wellbeing at WS Level 1 from 3.30pm. This includes not being able to use their phone for use in the canteen.

Canteen purchases

I encourage students to ensure that they have an alternate payment method at their disposal for use at the canteen, such as a Flexischools account linked to their SmartRider. From 2026, this will be the only method to pay for purchases at the canteen as previously advised. Further information can be found at flexischools.com.au.
