Many thanks to all the students for their creative Science Week entries. These entries comprised of a wide range of hand-made flowers with petals matched with a number from the Fibonacci sequence, as found in nature. Thank you, also to students who created and handed in mindfulness entries during their PAWS sessions that week, students who attended the Science Week Escape Room with Mr Lim, and students who attended the Perth Observatory incursion with Ms Smith.
Our school is also very appreciative to the following local businesses for kindly donating wonderful prizes for Science Week:
Coles, Raine Square
T. Sharp & Co, Hay St Mall
Bunnings
Boffins Books, William Street
Dymocks, Hay St Mall
Camera Electronic Murray St
Students are welcome to collect their flower entries during Week 10 of this term. Please, let your Science teacher know during that week, and thank you again for brightening up Level 4 this term.

This week Year 7 students stepped into the city for their Geography fieldwork excursion. As part of their studies into the concept of liveability, students were challenged to view the city with fresh eyes.
The challenge for our urbanite students was to go beyond the familiar and notice features that contribute to liveability, such as facilities, amenities, and accessibility measures.
Students plotted their walking route on a map and created detailed notes and legends to mark liveability features observed along the way. From public transport hubs and green spaces to pedestrian crossings and shaded seating, students were encouraged to think critically about how these elements shape the quality of life in urban spaces.
The excursion concluded with sketch mapping activities, where each class selected a city location to practise their fieldwork drawing skills. This hands-on approach allowed students to engage more deeply with their surroundings while also building their geographical skills in observation and representation.
It was wonderful to see the Year 7s enjoying the fresh spring weather, working collaboratively, and discovering aspects of our city they may not have otherwise noticed. This excursion was a fantastic reminder that learning can take place beyond the classroom walls and that Perth itself is an incredible resource for our students’ education.

Throughout the first week of September, we rolled out the gratitude carpet for Education Appreciation Week – celebrating Miss Bune, Mrs Bridewell, Mrs Harris, and Mrs Moore.
Thank you, Miss Bune, Mrs Bridewell, Mrs Harris, and Mrs Moore – your contributions make a lasting difference and we love that you are part of the St George’s Inclusive Education Team. These dedicated professionals play a vital role in supporting our students every day. Their commitment to inclusive education is evident in their support of equitable testing and assessment practices, ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Beyond the classroom, our EAs are integral to the smooth running of excursions, incursions, and school-wide events.
