Year 12 Drama & Dance Showcase – Finale (Recap)

Our Year 12s took a well-earned bow at the Drama & Dance Showcase – Finale on Wednesday 3 September in Studio 1 and Room 1.3, 441 Murray Street. The evening celebrated the culmination of two years of artistry, discipline, and growth across both ATAR and General pathways.

Dance highlights

Students presented a polished program of original solos, set works, and small-group choreography, demonstrating clear progression in technique and performance quality. Many works showcased confident musicality, clean lines and control, and thoughtful choreographic intent, evidence of sustained rehearsal, reflective practice, and peer feedback.

Drama highlights

Our actors delivered critical reviews, monologues, and contemporary scene work, with strong vocal clarity, purposeful blocking, and mature characterisation. Students impressed with their ability to analyse text, make bold interpretive choices, and sustain focus under performance conditions—skills that will serve them well in upcoming practical assessments.

We also had student leadership behind the scenes crew roles in lighting, sound, staging, and front-of-house strengthened the professional feel of the event and reflected our department’s commitment to authentic industry pathways as Indi Caudo, Sophie Bell, Seb Kinnear, Mia Cavanaugh and Sienna Karl all supported the evenings. Year 11 student Juliette Andrews, and past dance and current drama students MC’d the evening.

Huge thanks to our Performing Arts staff and mentors for their guidance, to our Creative Crew for smooth, professional production support, and to families for the countless lifts, costume fixes, and cheer-squad moments that made the journey possible.

What’s next?

Year 12s now pivot to final refinements ahead of practicals and examinations as we plan for the Year 11 solo evening.
