Last Friday our Year 7 students proudly represented St George’s at the AngliSchools House official opening. From lesson participation to flag-bearing, to the symbolic releasing of the doves, our students were beyond fantastic. Their enthusiasm and conduct throughout the day reflected the very best of our school, and I thank every student who attended and contributed.
A special well done also goes to those students (in both Year 7 and 8) who took part in the Sleep Out in the CBD at our new campus. It was a great showing of Year 7 students. This was a powerful and eye-opening experience, and the way students supported one another and embraced the challenges they faced was inspiring. They also gained a deeper insight to the challenges that our most vulnerable members of society face in sleeping on the streets on the city on a daily basis. Events like this show the heart and resilience within our students. As we head into the final weeks of term, I encourage all students to keep up their study habits. Remember, real learning comes not just from reading notes or creating flashcards, but from applying knowledge. Work through practice questions regularly, this active revision will build deeper understanding and prepare you for success in assessments.
Our Year 8 students also shone at the AngliSchools House official opening, with involvement across music performances, dove releasing, Science dissections, Maths lessons, as well as Arts and Drama. Each contribution made the day memorable, and students should be proud of the way they carried themselves in front of our wider community and invited guests.
Yesterday’s Year 8 Social at Strike Bowling was another highlight. Students enjoyed an evening of bowling, dinner, and unlimited games, and it was wonderful to see friendships strengthened and students interacting so positively with each other and with staff. It was a joyful and well-deserved celebration for the cohort.
As we finish the term, please continue to uphold our school uniform standards: top button fastened, tie worn correctly, and no excess jewellery. In Term 4, we return in the summer uniform and so these need to be checked that they meet our current guidelines.
Keep up the great work, Year 7 and 8 students, we are very proud of you.
