CAPA

Term 2 for the Creative and Performing Arts faculty saw the return of our big events that really showcase the talent across the school in the Arts. Many parents and friends came out to The Entertainment Grounds for the OnTrack Performance Night and were treated to wide range of musical styles. Students from Years 7 to 12 featured as part of the music studies and extra-curricular activities.

Stage 5 Drama got to experience the '7 Stages of Grieving' at the Sydney Theatre Company. This became an excellent opportunity for students to gauge what it is like to not only be part of a performance; but to experience life from others perspectives, to question what is accepted and to become part of change. The Theatre also gave our students a special look behind the scenes to see what it is like to put on a performance; staging, lighting, rehearsal rooms, script writing and costume design were all part of a great interactive tour.

Our Year 12 HSC Music students also engaged in the annual Central Coast HSC Music Workshop day. Schools from all around the coast come together with experienced teachers and HSC Markers to critically look at their own performances, Viva Voces and Compositions. This is a unique opportunity in our region and is a valuable milestone for our HSC Music students as they work they way towards the Practical marking days in September.

Visual Arts and Photography students continue to work formatively towards their Bodies of Work. The Art Studio is awash with creative feedback and development as their own unique ideas and perspectives take shape in a range of mediums that deal with personal interactions, societal issues and cultural stereotypes that become part of their conceptual and artistic ideas.

Looking ahead to Term 3, this is a eventful and busy time for our students and staff. The HSC, Performing Arts Nights and VISTAS are all features that the students are currently working towards.
