Student Services
Student Services has been busy this term continuing our support of students. This includes updating and completing our NCCD plans and communicating them to our classroom teachers.
WHAT IS THE NCCD?
The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) takes place every year. The NCCD is a collection that counts:
• the number of school students receiving an adjustment or ‘help’ due to disability
• the level of adjustment they are receiving to access education on the same basis as other students.
Students are counted in the NCCD if they receive ongoing adjustments at school due to disability. This ‘help’ allows them to access education on the same basis as a child without disability. All parents and caregivers of HKHS students included in the 2020 National Data Collection received a copy of their child’s learning plan this term.
Safe On Social
This term Year 7-10 participated in a presentation delivered by Kirra Pendergast called Safe on Social. It was an engaging and sometimes confronting presentation that detailed the risks and dangers involved in using social media platforms. Kirra is a certified training provider for the Australian Office of the eSafety Commissioner. Her presentation included information on keeping personal information private, online stranger danger (online grooming), ethics for when posting and sharing photos, creating a positive digital footprint, curating your online image and cyber-bullying. Kirra also covered safe use of the most popular social media apps. E.g. Snapchat, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook. Kirra writes a very information blog that gives parents valuable, relevant information that comes highly recommended.

Push For Better Mental Health
The Student Wellbeing Team led a fantastic initiative this term called the Push-Up Challenge. Staff and students were invited to complete 3,318 push-ups each over 25 days, representing the number of Australians who died by suicide in 2019.
During the challenge, students were able to track their individual and school progress online via an app. The app also communicated a mental health message each day of the challenge and gave the participants a Spotify song list to play whilst completing their exercises.
The student winners of this challenge were Vesna Bakarich-Davies, Zayd Akhtar and Kaylee Kaczmarczyk. Congratulations to these students. They will each receive a $30 gift card at our next Celebration Assembly.
