Intercol: 2017
Intercol week always brings a sense of excitement as we face CBC in various fixtures. At the Primary level, we had fixtures in Primary A Football, Primary A Soccer and Year 4/5 Soccer.
The Primary A Football team played really well against CBC who are a Division 1 side. Although outsized physically, the boys never gave up and fell short by a point. It was a very exciting game that could have gone either way with a little luck. Mr Vo was very pleased with his team and the fight they showed throughout.
The Primary A Soccer team started well and things were looking good after Blackfriars scored the first two goals. CBC clawed their way back and were stronger overall, scoring eight goals to run out easy winners. Congratulations to Anthony Troiani for being judged best afield and receiving the Intercol Medal.
The Year 4/5 Soccer teams won both of their games against CBC 3-0 and 6-2.
Congratulations to Cameron Ellis and Jack Lord for receiving the Intercol Medals for being best afield in their respective teams.
Other Sporting News
The Year 4/5 Blue soccer team played their final game of the season at home against St Andrew’s School. The number 1 team lost 4-6 in a hard fought game whilst the number 2 team also lost a tough match. I was lucky enough to witness these games and was impressed with the speed and toughness in both matches. Congratulations to all of the Blue team members on a successful season.
The Blue lacrosse team had a bye, but the Gold team defeated ETP 18-9 in a dominant display. Hunter and Liam H were amongst the goals whilst Vinnie stepped into the net for three quarters which was awesome. This week sees the showdown between Blackfriars Blue and Blackfriars Gold.
The chess team didn’t play last week. There are no games scheduled this week due to the Royal Adelaide Show.

2017 SAPSASA Teams Table Tennis Championships
On Friday 11 August, the team of Isaiah Lee, Kerry Cao, Declan Dunne and Kevin Dang contested the SAPSASA Teams Championship at the Woodville Table Tennis Club.
The same boys competed earlier in the year at the SAPSASA Mixed Championships and finished in the middle of the pack. Since then, two of the boys have begun playing competitively.
At this event, the team played seven matches in a round-robin format against suburban and rural schools. Blackfriars won six and drew one match earning us the title of Champion School. Congratulations to the four boys involved for their fine play and sportsmanship throughout.
