This term is really flying and the teachers are all getting prepared for our Student/Parent Teacher Learning Conversations next week and writing end of Term 3 reports. The boys have been exceptionally well behaved lately especially considering the dreadful weather we have been enduring. Luckily the days are getting longer and the impending warm weather will bring a new energy to the Primary School.

On Thursday 24 August, many students from Year 3 – 6 who are a part of Concert Band 3 (they rehearse early every Wednesday morning) had the opportunity to perform and compete at the ABODA Festival held at Westminster School. This competition has several different schools from all over Adelaide (from all three sectors – DECD, Catholic and Independent) competing in a variety of different divisions. The boys were successful in winning a silver award. This is a huge achievement and well deserved for all the hard work they and Miss Jessica Reppucci put into their performance.

On Friday 25 August, all the Primary classes were involved in the Book Week Assembly held in the Frassati Hall. It was great to see each of the different year levels read one of the short-listed books and then present something to the Primary School. We had 1HH decorate t-shirts about being nice to each other, Reception K made their own dog kennels (some of which could be patented) and Year 6N drew their own mechanical drawings. Other items included book reviews, a drama production, students wrote their own biographies and some even shared photos of special memories.

Congratulations to all the students and their teachers for putting so much effort into their presentation for our assembly. We are also honoured that Fr Matthew Boland could share some facts and information for us to think about regarding the most published book in the world ... The Bible.  He said for every car in the world there are five copies of the Bible!

On Wednesday 30 August the Primary School all gathered to celebrate our Father’s, Grandfather’s and other significant male role models and the role they play in the lives of our students. We started the day with a special Liturgy run by Year 1S in the Frassati Hall.  Thank you to everyone who came along for this Special Liturgy. After the Liturgy, the Primary School had a shared morning tea with our special visitors before they went on with their day and the boys headed back to class. While the Liturgy and morning tea was taking place, some parents from the school’s P and F were busy setting up the Father’s Day Stall in the Primary Library where the students were all able to purchase a gift at the cost of $5 each.  Without their help, such events and opportunities would not be able to take place and we thank them very much for their time.

The Year 4 students had their practice for the ReLAT (Religious Education Literacy Assessment Tool) on Thursday 24 August and they will sit the ReLAT on Thursday 31 August. Thursday 31st August was also the day when over 50 primary students and five teachers headed down to the Woodville Town Hall to rehearse for the Annual Music Concert to be held later that night. We certainly have some very talented musicians in the Primary School, who were able to showcase their talents during the evening’s performance.

Another reminder to keep sending in your ‘Earn and Learn’ stickers; we are aiming to collect 20,000 stickers this year so we can redeem the rewards for sporting equipment and science equipment for the classrooms.
