Maintenance and Grounds Person Position 

We are looking for a highly motivated person with a range of gardening and maintenance skills who is committed to working with the staff and wider community to maintain our gardens, facilities and grounds.

 

Assist with the day-to-day upkeep of the school grounds under the guidance of the Leadership team and OHS guidelines using established routines, methods and procedures.

 

Hold the relevant certificates to be able to work at heights or the willingness to be trained.

 

Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established and direction is readily available.

 

The position is for part time hours (casual rates) working three days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday (negotiable)

 

Role Description:

  • Maintenance jobs include but not limited to aspects of joinery, carpentry, minor plumbing, repairing doors, locks, blinds, lights, plant, equipment and other tasks that may arise.
  • Maintain grounds and open spaces including but not limited to gardens, including mowing, weeding, fertilizing, planting and pruning.
  • Liaise with tradespeople and contractors as required.
  • Cyclical preventative maintenance jobs as scheduled, including gutter and roof cleaning and painting.
  • Assist with manual tasks including lifting and moving heavy items
  • Daily follow up on any matters raised by leadership and administration team.
  • Follow all Health and Safety policies and procedures.  Report all known and observed hazards to the Principal.
  • Participate as a team member and perform hands on set ups (events and functions)
  • Clear external drains, sweep paved areas and ensure that litter is removed from garden areas.
  • Maintain garden equipment appropriately, store garden implements and chemicals.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Current Drivers License, Police and Working With Children Check required

Select Criteria

1.  Demonstrated sound and safe working knowledge of hand and power tools and the ability to efficiently undertake general handyperson tasks, repairs and maintenance to the interior and exterior of buildings and grounds with the school.

 

2.  A strong and proactive work ethic and a sense of pride in efficiently completing work to a high standard in a timely fashion.

 

3.  The ability to follow directions, accept feedback and work independently or as part of a team.

 

4.  Ability to communicate and cooperate effectively with tradespeople, suppliers and colleagues.

Uniform Shop 

Our onsite Uniform Shop is currently being set up again, in a new larger space. When set up RHSport will employ a staff member and we will advise the community of opening hours. In the meantime Uniform Orders will can be made online from RHSports with a "click and collect" option from their Ringwood store, home delivery or school delivery .
