Our school is located on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.

Art installation

This last week in my office I have heard lots of conversations around the art installation which is taking place in the foyer. The work is inspired by the art of Yayoi Kusama.

Do you follow the school Art Instagram? Jennifer has been sharing the progress of the installation and other exciting art works. If you are on Instagram be sure to follow @boroondaraparkvisualart

Oval precinct redevelopment

Over the last month a hard working team of parents and staff have been putting together an application for a Minor Works Grant to be submitted to the Victorian School Building Authority. The grant is for $500,000 and would focus on the implementation of the Grounds Masterplan already developed by the school.

This grant would run alongside the School Funded Project we have already submitted to the Victorian School Building Authority to implement Stage 1 of the works which focuses on the oval levels, surface, irrigation and access path from Balwyn Road up to the playground. The School Funded project includes all fundraising and School Council contributions for a total of $170,000.

We are all excited at the prospect of being able to implement much of the work we have planned for in the last five years.

Supporting our wellbeing

Thank you for your continued support and efforts to keep us all safe and well.

We appreciate parents and carers using the QR code every time they are onsite. Thank you for dropping students off in the morning and picking them up in the afternoon without too much congregation around entry gates and also without entering the grounds unless it is really essential.

Any changes to restrictions will be communicated via Sentral as we receive them from the Department.

Prep Bag feedback

At the beginning of the school year, the Department of Education and Training provided every Prep student attending a Victorian government school with a red Prep bag.

The Prep bags contained 14 items, including children’s storybooks, flyers, stickers, and stationery items, all designed to help Prep students and their parents and carers thrive from the start of Term 1.

The Department is now inviting families of current Prep students to participate in a short survey, closing Sunday 29 August.

Feedback will help inform what Prep students and their parents and carers like about the Prep bags and what can be improved in 2022.

To have your say, complete the survey through SurveyMonkey

The survey takes about five to ten minutes to complete. For more information on this year’s Prep bags, refer to the Prep Bags 2021 web page on the Department’s website.

Onsite Uniform Shop

Our onsite uniform shop is one step closer. The area is currently being set up and more cupboards are set to arrive. Next steps are the stock will be returned and a staff member allocated by RHSport.

Stay tuned for updates on the grand reopening.

Starting School

This week our Year 6 families will have received their Year 7 placement offer from government secondary schools.

Whilst our students are with us for many more months these letters have reminded me of resources to support transition to school.

Tips for starting school
