Fantastic French

Bonjour tout le monde!

Term 3 is French Poetry Competition time!

2019 was our first ever whole school French Poetry Recitation Competition at B.P.P.S.

Students photographed below were winners or achieved a place in their levels in 2019.

Students received CL@S and French Recitation awards, French books and other French memorabilia for their achievement. Bravo!

In 2021, students from Foundation to Grade 6 will also be encouraged to memorize a poem to compete in a class and level French Poem Recitation.

Due to Covid Lock-down in 2020, we were unable to run the competition last year but, fingers crossed, we hope we can conduct the finals during planning week in Term 3

(Date T.B.C). Level winners and place-getters will also receive CL@S, French awards and book prizes.

All students at B.P.P.S. will be given time during class-time to listen to and practice their poem with the aim of memorizing their lines. They will be encouraged to work in pairs and also practise at home with their families.

Students are expected to post recordings of their poem's pronunciation as tasks set in class, on Showbie (3-6) and Seesaw (F-2) .This task will be part of each student's assessment for correct recall of French pronunciation in Semester 2.

I am sure that a lot of parents will remember doing a similar task and our aim is to give our students a similar opportunity at primary level to boost confidence, public speaking and presentation skills.

The poems will be posted in small chunks on Seesaw and Showbie during the term and we encourage all parents to look at these and work with their children as practice at home will facilitate learning. Some of you mums and dads out there could have a healthy competition at home and see who can learn the poem first !

These are the poems the students will be learning

Foundation : Sous la pluie

Grade 1: J'ai du chocolat

Grade 2: Mes cinq sens

Grade 3: Pour mon gouter

Grade 4: La vie

Grade 5: Pour la rentrée

A la prochaine,
