From the 1/2 classrooms

Writing Workshops

Students in Grades 1 and 2 have been learning about writing Narrative stories.

The purpose of a narrative is to entertain. Narrative writing allows students to express their ideas creatively. It helps students clarify their thinking, and teaches them to express that in writing in an organised way.

To come up with ideas for their stories students used a Dice Roll activity. Using this students were able to generate a character, setting and problem for their story.

Here are some of the stories they created. The challenge in writing a good narrative is to captivate the audience and keep them engaged as the story is told. These are skills we will continue to build over the term.
