What's news at OSHClub?
Clubs
We introduced a Sewing Club this term inspired by the Klutz sewing series. The children will be sewing "mini treats". A few days into our sewing club - at the mere suggestion of the sewing club - even before we had all the equipment ready to go - one glimpse of the book - and the children began to sew!! And why not, look at what we showed the children.
The children were very excited. The sewing club was intended to run one morning a week. However, due to popular demand, it is running every morning.
Our menu included pizza, cheesy toast, pasta bake and nachos. The nachos were an absolute hit. We served them with cheese, lettuce, carrot, tomato, salsa and black beans. Yummy!! (Yes - the addition of black beans was somewhat ambitious)
The children enjoyed building together.
And we had a special helper this week. Thanks Lucia!
We were quite impressed with Hannah's work. She chaired the Child Meeting this week and recorded what is essentially a "wish list" of food and activities the children would like to see at the service. We accommodate what we can. However, we are a health conscious, vegetarian service so we will not be serving hotdogs or fish and chips. We have recently acquired a waffle maker and a doughnut maker and so we can offer "tweaked" healthier homemade options. Nonetheless, it is amusing to read what children like to eat.
On these dreadfully cold days, it is always lovely to finish the session with a hot chocolate. Even parents are indulged.
Brazilian Capoeira and Street Dance
Unfortunately, the Brazilian Capoeira and Street Dance incursion will not continue this term due to restrictions. We are all disappointed yet hopeful that the children will teach each other (and us) some dance moves in our Dance Club.
Meet the Team
The permanent on-site OSHClub team consists of Mary (Educational Leader/Coordinator) and Conor (Educator). We love taking care of the children and leading them in a variety of activities.
Bookings
Bookings need to be made outside of 48hrs before a session. For example, bookings for Before School Care on a Thursday will need to be made at the latest by 7am the Tuesday before. After this time, you will not be able to secure a booking through the iParent portal and will need to contact us directly.
